On January 16, 2025, the Officers and Crew of CSS Asterix were honored with the Special Service Medal – EXPEDITION for their exceptional contributions to Operation Projection in the spring of 2023. This joint operation with the Royal Canadian Navy and our NATO allies underscores the vital role civilian merchant mariners play in the defense of Canada.

The medals were presented by Rear Admiral Josée Kurtz, Commander of Maritime Forces Atlantic (MARLANT) and Joint Task Force Atlantic (JTFA), during a special ceremony held in the Helo Hangar onboard the Asterix.
